Portstewart is famous for its clean white beach, the rolling waves and the amazing sunsets over the ocean. The glory of God is visible everywhere along the Causeway Coast and around the countryside. Our logo has 4 symbols. The waves are a reminder of God’s ever flowing love and His control of Creation. The waves can come so far – but no further!

The Red Sail is reminiscent of the song ‘Red sails in the sunset by Jimmy Kennedy. It also reminds us that without the wind of God’s Spirit in our lives we are going nowhere, fast! As we pray for the Fulness of the Holy Spirit, God enables us to move on with Him on the Journey of Life. The sail also reminds us that Jesus is with us in the ‘boat of life’ and He can calm all of our storms, because He is the Son of God.

The Cross is the everlasting symbol at the heart of the Christian Faith. Jesus Christ died on a Roman cross over 2000 years ago, to pay the price for the sins that separate human beings like us from Almighty God. That Cross is the symbol of the love of God, who gave His only son, so that anyone who puts their trust in Him might have Eternal Life [John 3:16]. That amazing love is yours if you will come humbly to Jesus and ask for it ! The rainbow is the sign of God’s ancient , yet everlasting promise of a father’s care and protection. In Genesis 9:11-16, we hear God say,

“I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth. This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

The love and promises of God are always available to each one of us. That’s why we have chosen them as key symbols for our church and for everyday life as Christians.

“Our aim is to proclaim Christ to all ages, for all Ages, with our lips and with our lives!”

As you can see from our mission statement, we exist for a very specific purpose – and our desire is that God will help us to become a vibrant community of faith at the centre of Portstewart. The church sits on a hill above the promenade and has a distinctive red roof. Visitors can park their cars in the Convention Carpark nearby and walk to the church in three minutes via a pedestrian access. In that way you can show Christian love to our neighbours by leaving them space to park outside their houses. There is, however, a small carpark at the rear of the church which is available for disabled worshipers.

We really hope that you enjoy your visit to our site. People say that we’re a friendly wee church. Why not call and worship Almighty God with us if you’re up at the port!
